First, a visit from a beloved aunt and uncle, Gerry and Cindy. Who were supposed to sneak into town to a surprise 50th wedding anniversary party...until it became not a surprise, because I announced their visit. On Facebook.
Don't announce anything on Facebook that's supposed to be a surprise. Lesson learned.
It's fall here. Yes, I know it's late August, but the climate is FALL, and has been so for a few weeks.
Fall came early to Virginia. I suppose it could switch back into the usual heat and humidity of late August, but it shows no sign, not yet.

So this weekend was early fall-like, outside - low 80s, sunny and low humidity.
and inside- as Friday came to a close, a second week of homeschooling was under our belts and at least one subject was dropped (that would be Latin) to the relief of many...followed by a substitution here, an addition here...tweaking the weekly round of writing, math, piano and so forth so that the school day is do-able, reasonable, and not particularly dreaded by anybody. Including me.
and on the calendar-after some weeks of wondering and waiting whether or not "she got the part", the results of auditions were announced and now our calendar months of September to December are finally plotted out, no more tentative planning around plays and shows which "might" occur and "might not" .... well, now we know.
More later on that.
and back outside again, soccer practices and games have begun in the lovely mild fall-like weather
The beautiful campus of Hollins University was visited today by Amie, who is going to sing here once a week in the duPont Chapel for Roanoke Valley Children's Choir rehearsals.
